Freelancers can perform tasks in an offer solo or as a team. Read on to find out more.

Important: These features are currently only available in the Solar Staff app (App Store, Google Play, AppGallery).

To learn more about Solar Staff's product for freelancers, read this overview.

Managers

The project manager is the freelancer who creates the offer and sends it to the client.

They are the team's point of contact with the client. The manager can check the progress of the performers' work, submit the results for acceptance to the client, and initiate disputes. Regular team members can't do any of the above: each is limited to their particular task.

Important: The creator of an offer should include a task for themselves, along with a price for their job. When the client accepts and pays for the work, Solar Staff will send money directly to the performers specified in the offer, so if you're not there, you won't get paid.

Here's an example of an offer containing two tasks, each with its own performer:

As the manager, you can both perform a purely supervisory function or engage in task work along with the rest of the team.

Creating a team

Solar Staff lets you build teams for jointly working on projects. This is a great option for groups of freelancers, or managers that oversee several projects. For example, an editor-in-chief can invite several editors and manage their own content agency through Solar Staff, and an art director can assemble a team to create a corporate identity.

If it's your first time gathering a team as part of an offer, send out email invites through the app. To join your project, they need to accept the invite and register in Solar Staff.

All invitees are saved in the app. You can also categorize them, placing all designers in a separate group, for example. After the first invite, you no longer need to repeat the process – just select contractors from the list.

Swapping people out

As long as a task is in progress (and not in the "Client review" status), the project manager can replace the performer. This may be necessary if people go MIA, work poorly or slowly, or miss deadlines.

The new invitee gets emailed a notification about a new task and, if the terms cause no objection, accepts it. The person who got removed from the project also receives an email notification.

Important: The project manager may disagree with the performers and vice versa – such disagreements are handled by the parties themselves, without Solar Staff mediation.

Remuneration

After the tasks are accepted and paid for, the money is automatically transferred to the Solar Staff accounts of each project participant.
