Follow these steps to set up two-factor authentication with Google Authenticator instead of SMS codes:
Setting up Google Authenticator
Navigate to the Profile section in your account’s left menu
Click “Enable Google Authenticator”
Download the Google Authenticator app from the AppStore (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). If already installed, proceed to the next step
Open the app and scan the QR code displayed on your screen
Enter the generated code into the corresponding field
Click “Enable Google Authenticator”
Troubleshooting code issues
If your code doesn’t work, the Google Authenticator app’s time may need synchronization:
For Android:
The latest versions of Google Authenticator no longer include manual time correction, as the app now synchronizes with Google's servers automatically. If you're having trouble with verification codes:
Ensure your device's time settings are correct by going to your phone's "Settings"
Navigate to "System" / "General management" > "Date and time" (may vary slightly depending on your device)
Make sure "Automatic date and time" (or "Use network-provided time") is enabled
If the issue persists, try removing and re-adding your Solar Staff account in Google Authenticator:
In Google Authenticator, press and hold the Solar Staff entry
Select "Remove account"
Return to the Solar Staff website and repeat the initial setup process
5. Restart your device to make sure all changes are applied
For iOS:
Open “Settings” on your iPhone
Select “General”
Go to “Date & Time”
Toggle “Set Automatically” off and then back on
Restart your device
Important! After setup, you’ll use Google Authenticator codes instead of SMS for the second authentication step. These codes update regularly and don’t need to be memorized.
And just like that, your account now has enhanced security protection!
