Account verification is the process of verifying your identity and your address. What is verification for?
To verify their identity and address, freelancers need to upload certain documents. To learn about the requirements for such documents, see Verification rules.
Please note:
You need to photograph the original paper versions of your documents, and then upload them in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.
All four corners of the document must be visible in the photo.
Photo should not be cropped or edited.
Electronic documents need to be uploaded in their original format (PDF).
The same kinds of documents can be called differently and vary in content across countries. Based on the results of previous background checks, we have compiled recommendations to ensure successful verification:
Important! Please pay special attention to the allowed document combinations at the first and third verification steps.
Verifying your identity
For the first verification step, prepare the following documents:
Internal passport of Russia's citizen
Foreign passport
Residence permit
Verifying your residential address
For the third verification step, you can use the Russian internal passport's page with registration details. This is the recommended method for verifying the address (see the specific steps below).
Uploading the Russian passport's page with registration details
The registration page must indicate the series and number of the document. If the page doesn't have them, bend its edges so that the passport series and number are visible on another page of the document.
If the stamp with the registration address is at the very bottom of the passport page, you need to additionally upload a photo of the next page to confirm the absence of details that are more recent.
The registration details must be valid at the time of verification.
If at the first verification step you uploaded a different document (for example, a foreign passport), then to verify your residential address you need to take a photo of two pages of the internal passport and upload these two photos in the following sequence:first, a photo of the page with the address, and then a photo of the page with your photo and name. You can also use any other document from the list below.
To verify your address, you can use any of the below documents, provided they contain all of the following information:
Your first and last name.
Your residential address.
The logo, QR code, or seal of a well-known organization, or the signature of its representative.
Date of issue (maximum 6 months prior to the verification date).
Document issued by the Bank of Russia
Examples of documents: any kind of bank/account statement, bank book, bank reference.

The document must be in your name and contain typed text in Russian or English, as well as the logo or seal of the issuing organization (or its representative's signature), and your residential address.
As at the background check date, the bill or contract must be no more than 6 months old.
Documents issued by Russia's Federal Tax Service
Examples of documents: 3-NDFL (personal income) tax return, notification letters, or the Federal Tax Service's responses to requests.
The document must contain your full name, residencial address, and the organization's seal or QR code.
As at the background check date, the document must be no more than 6 months old.
Residential lease agreement
The agreement must be made up in Russian or English language.
The agreement can be typed or handwritten (in the latter case it must be clear and legible).
You need to upload a photo of the first and last pages of the agreement's paper version. If it's an electronic agreement, upload it as a PDF file and contact Support via chat so they check it manually.
If the agreement is currently in effect, but was signed more than 6 months ago, contact Support via chat so they check it manually.
