Account verification is the process of verifying your identity and your address. What is verification for?

To verify their identity and address, freelancers need to upload certain documents. To learn about the requirements for such documents, see Verification rules.

Please note:

  • You need to photograph the original paper versions of your documents, and then upload them in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

  • All four corners of the document must be visible in the photo.

  • Photo should not be cropped or edited.

  • Electronic documents need to be uploaded in their original format (PDF).

  • Only non-handwritten, typed documents in Serbian, English, or Russian are accepted.

The same kinds of documents can be called differently and vary in content across countries. Based on the results of previous background checks, we have compiled recommendations to ensure successful verification:

  • Verifying your residential address in Serbia

  • Notes on documents at the first and third verification steps

Verifying your identity

For the first verification step, prepare the following documents:

  • ID card of Serbia's citizen

  • Passport

  • Driver's license

  • Residence permit

Verifying your residential address

For the third verification step, you can use the same documents you did for confirming your identity at the first step, if those documents indicate a residential address. For Serbia's citizens we recommend using the ID or passport for both steps by following the instructions below.

Instructions for uploading documents at the third verification step

  • If the address is printed on the back of a two-sided document, you need to take a photo of both sides and upload the two photos in the following order: first the photo of the side with the address, and then the photo of the side with your photo and name.

  • If the address is printed on a separate page (like in the passport), then you need to take a photo of two pages of the passport and upload the two photos in the following order: first the photo of the page with the address, and then the photo of the page with your photo and name from the respective part of the passport.

For the third verification step, you can use any document that contains all of the following information:

  • Your first and last name

  • Your residential address

  • The logo, QR code, or seal of a well-known organization, or the signature of its representative

  • Date of issue (maximum 6 months prior to the verification date)

  • Document issued by Bank of Serbia

    • Examples of documents: any kind of bank/account statement, passbook savings, bank book, bank reference.

    • If a regular bank statement does not mention your name or residential address, request one from your bank that specifically includes your last name, first name, and residential address.

    • Documents from the following banks have worked well previously: Banca INTESA, AIK Banka, ERSTE Bank, Raiffeisen Bank.

  • Certificate of registration at the place of residence (Uverenye)

    • The document must be made up in typed Serbian language.

    • Take a photo of the original document's paper version and upload it in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

  • Registration of a foreigner at the place of stay (White cardboard)

    • Take a photo of the original document's paper version and upload it in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

    • The document must bear a state body seal.

    • If the document is currently in effect, but is declined during background check, contact Support via chat so they check it manually.

  • Service bill or service contract

    • Examples of documents: utility bill (for example СРБИJE), cable Internet bill, television bill, landline or mobile phone bill (for example SBB, mts), contract for the provision of any of the listed services.

    • The document must be in your name and contain typed text in Serbian or English, as well as the logo or seal of the issuing organization (or its representative's signature), and your residential address.

    • As at the background check date, the bill or contract should be no more than 6 months old.

  • Residential lease agreement

    • Only non-handwritten, typed documents are accepted.

    • You need to upload a photo of the first and last pages of the agreement's paper version. If it's an electronic agreement, upload it as a PDF file and contact Support via chat so they check it manually.

    • If the agreement is currently in effect, but was signed more than 6 months ago, contact Support via chat so they check it manually.

Notes on documents at the first and third verification steps

In order to successfully pass verification, for Serbia's citizens we recommend follow the instructions to upload any of the above documents at the first and third step.

In other cases, upload any document from the list during the first step, and a bank statement or service bill at the third step.
